Get Creative - Week # 47

The theme this week at The Shabby Tea Room is 'get creative'.

The main idea of this challenge is to get creative with your basic supplies (i.e. cardstock, ink, stamps). For this challenge, you can consider such things like ribbon, lace, buttons and brads - basic supplies. Hand make what you can, for example - make your background paper by repeating stamping to make a pattern, or use an embossing folder to create some pattern. Hand make a paper flower as an embellishment. Use your dies and punches to make embellishments, etc. -- do not to use anything manufactured that you can attempt to hand make and 'Get Creative'!

I so loved this challenge and thought I'd have a go at making my first ever paper flowers to use as an embellishment. I was so surprised how well they turned out and will definately be making more of these!

Supplies used:-

Kraft cardstock
White Twill from The Ribbon Reel
Stamps from PTI Polka Dot Basics and Memories of you
Paper from October Afternoon Modern Homemaker Collection
Tim Holtz Distress Ink

A Work In Progress - Receipe Challenge 1

Vicki's first challenge of 2011 is a receipe one. Using one of the digi kits from Scrap That Idea, you had to follow the receipe below:-

1 leaf/vine
2 frames
3 photos
4 ribbons
5 papers
6 flowers
7 letters/numbers

This is the layout I came up with.

in the park

As much as I love making layouts with real paper and embellishments, I just don't seem to have the space these days to access my gorgeous stash! So, I have started creating digital layouts, I've only ever made two or three (think this is my third) and I absolutely love the digi kits from A Work in Progress. I've used their Village Fair kit to create this cute little layout.

This was a family outing to a local woods which has a playing field along side. We soaked up the sun and had a scrummy picnic followed by kicking the ball around. Great fun!!

I came up with this card in White (Cream) and Pink;

I used;

Miss Anya 'Love' stamp set
My Minds Eye papers
Lace and ribbon from The Ribbon Reel
Sentiment from 'Tiny Sweetheart Sentiments' from Pink Petticoat
Prima Fairytale flowers from stash (I {heart} these little flowers and never want to use them)

Playing with Promarkers

I had never really been much of a fan of stamping in general, only using the odd word stamp to add a title to a card. I recently found and feel in love with The Greeting Farm range of Miss Anya stamps. They are so cute and adorable. My only option to colour them was with some watercolour pencils. While they looked great, they could look better. Then I was introduced to Promarkers so decided to treat myself to some in the January sales. This is going to my new addiction I fear, there are so many colour choices and having had a play tonight colouring some Miss Anya stamps, I have no where near enough to produce the shading I want to achieve.

Here is what I ended up with tonight, with a very limited colour range. I have only one pastel pink for skin tone, which is too dark so I've already added the skin tone set to my wish list!

I'm lucky to have the day off tomorrow with my youngest at nursery until lunchtime so hopefully I can join in a few blog challenges and make use of my new images :)
