DCM 'Marie Antoinette'

Yeah it's Friday and another exciting challenge at Daring Cardmakers. It's Sharon's turn and she wants to see your Vintage / Parisian / Palace of Versailles creations as the this weeks theme is

Marie Antoinette

Your card doesn't have to feature the Queen herself, but can be in a Baroque/Palace of Versailles style, or something inspired by the fantastic gowns and wigs she wore. Or, you could even opt for a 'let them eat cake' inspired card (even though she apparently never actually said that!)

Here is my card...

I was stumped for a while what to create and this slowly fell together. I'm not totally happy with it but still had such fun creating it. I'm trying to break out of my keep simple style and challenge myself using different colour schemes, techniques or products.

I was so lucky to find this sweet image in my stash from Crafty Secrets which fits the challenge perfectly! I placed it behind a chipboard frame which I covered with crackle glaze.

This beautiful soft peach rose is from Prima (I think!), I added a mini 'with love' tag and placed on top of a double from baby pink seam binding. I also folded a paper doily into a cone shape and tucked behind the bow.

I actually decided on creating this beautiful paper ruffle at the start of making my card, inspired by the truly talented Clare Buswell (you can find a tutorial on how to create these on her blog!). Okay, so it is no where near as good as Clare's but as my first attempt, I'm really pleased with how it turned out. I added a length of Ivory & Lace pearl trim to hide where the papers meet.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT cards for some beautiful inspiration.

DYSU #60 Distress

We have another new challenge up over at Do You Stack Up with week! A great excuse to get out your inks and get messy.

Here is my card....

I distressed the red spot and love papers with Walnut Distress Ink. I couldn't find my distressing tool so used my fingernail to distress the kraft paper. The love paper has also had the corners curled over.

I got to play with this gorgeous Bugaboo image, Ava and Deacon Love Word. I coloured with promarkers and layered on top of another label, again distressed with ink. I added a little bit of button twine and finished with a little bow!

For this week we have two great sponsors:

Winner's Choice of 5 Digital Images

Supplies used:
Cardstock - MME Love Me from The Ribbon Reel

TRR Challenge #22 'Weathered'

Welcome friends to another fun fortnightly challenge at The Ribbon Reel!
Helen
is our fab host and has chosen this beautiful inspiration photo.....

...and ask that you create a card /project using the colours KRAFT, WHITE, BLUE with touch of RED, NATURAL TWINE/TWILL!

Here is my card...

I love when I see other cards that are full of layers and embellishments but can never seem to get it right or feel happy with the results, so most of my cards are quite simple. However, I decided to have a good go with this card and just love how it turned out!

I distressed the edges of the paper to give it a weathered look, as well as inking the kraft cardstock with white ink. Added a strip of hessian (which I recently found after digging around my craft cupboard - its amazing what you can find isn't it!) and folded a paper doily in half on top.

I chose just to use embellishments rather than images, layered up some circles cut with my nesties and covered with a gorgeous white tea rose and blue rose. Not forgetting that gorgeous red crochet heart. I just adore it! And of course, not forgetting, I layered red satin ribbon with our new white sheer box pleat and a little natural button twine!

Challenges:
Supplies used:
Cardstock - MME papers, Kraft cardstock
Ribbons - 25mm Red Satin, White Sheer Box Pleat, Natural Button Twine from The Ribbon Reel
Flowers - 40mm Ivory Tea Rose, 25mm Blue Rose from The Ribbon Reel
Sentiment - PTI Love Lives Here
Other - Paper Doily, Nesties, Hessian from stash, Crochet Heart from Etsy

DCM 'Postage'

I'm a little late with this weeks Daring Cardmakers challenge set by Rein. The dare is set around

'Postage'

I struggled for ages to think of something suitable as I was pretty sure I didn't have anything with a postage stamp in my stash. It's amazing what you can find when you have a good dig around your stash.

So here's my card....

I found the perfect PP from Fancy Pants, which is covered in postage stamps. I also remembered I had the postage stamp nesties! I used a sentiment from Pink Petticoat and added a gardenia blossom and tea roses to finish. Oh and of course a little pink butterfly too.

This card started off being quite dark with lots of black PP, which I just wasn't happy with but after playing around a little more I made it much lighter and love how it turned out. It's funny how you have an idea in your head and it turns in to something completely different. Please tell me I'm not the only one that does this!

Please check out the rest of the DT's amazing cards this week. We hope you'll feel inspired to join in.

Supplies used:
Cardstock - Fancy Pants, Melissa Frances
Ribbon - Pink Sheer Ruffle from The Ribbon Reel
Flowers - Pink Gardenia Blossom, Tea Roses from The Ribbon Reel
Sentiment - from Pink Petticoat
Other - Postage Stamp Nesties from The Ribbon Reel, Butterfly from PTI

DYSU #59 Layers

We have another fabulous challenge over at DYSU this week which is 'Layers'.

Here is my card...

Using lots of layers doesn't seem to come easy to me, after playing around for a while, I came up with this. A few layers of MME papers, paper doily and nesties labels.

Some of the design team were able to use images from Tickled Pink. If you haven't already, you must pop over and take a look at their shop. They have some absolutely gorgeous images just waiting to be inked! I used 'Party Pinkette Coraline' from the Lil Pinkettes range.

I inked the sentiment in Pink Grapefruit and added a sumptuous ivory silk bow with sparkly button to complete it.

Welcome friends to another fun fortnightly challenge at The Ribbon Reel! Not only is Lenet our fab host this week but its also her birthday! Lenet has chosen this beautiful shabby photo.....

...and ask that you create a BIRTHDAY card /project using the COLOURS from the photo, plus RIBBON, LACE, ROSES and STITCHING!

Here is my card..

I used some gorgeous rose paper from Papermania, as well as papers from MME. I just love using these colours, they are so easy to work with.

I chose to use this beautiful blue Gardenia and a couple of pink cherry blossoms instead of roses, as the paper is covered in them. The sentiment is from WMS which I added stitching and pearls to. You can just about see my little bow underneath the Gardenia which is baby pink seam binding. I completed the card by adding white crochet lace to the bottom.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT cards and wish Lenet a Happy Birthday!
