TRR Challenge #27

Welcome friends to another fun fortnightly challenge over at The Ribbon Reel Challenge Blog! Zuzana is our lovely host this week and she has chosen this fab inspiration photo.....

...and ask that you create a card /project using BLUE plus COLOURS in the photo, RIBBON and a BUTTON!

Here is my card....

I choose to use the colours pink and white from the inspiration photo.  I've rather neglected this sweet little jar stamp from Little Musings recently and decided to stamp it in white onto kraft cardstock.  I tied some button twine around the top and added a little cotton button from Tea House Bridge and a little ivory pearl.

I wanted to stitch around the edge of my card and, after around 15 minutes, managed to get it done.  For some reason my sewing machine kept jamming!  I added a couple of 25mm White/Pink Tea Roses and a blue faux silk ribbon bow.

Supplies used:
Cardstock - Fancy Pants, MME
Ribbon - Blue Faux Silk Ribbon and Ivory Button Twine from The Ribbon Reel
Flowers - 25mm White/Pink Tea Roses from The Ribbon Reel
Stamps - Little Jar of... by Little Musings from The Ribbon Reel
Button - Cotton button from Tea House Bridge
Other - Paper Doily from The Ribbon Reel

These headbands are perfect for every day wear and pretty enough to wear to a party, wedding or special occasion.  I've put them up for sale on my 'little baby bear' facebook page.  If you are interested, just leave a comment under the headband you are looking at.

Supplies:

DCM Sportsman

It's Kathy's turn to set the dare over at Daring Cardmakers and this week she wants us to make a masculine card with the theme...

Sportsman

....it can be for any age of "boy" you like - from baby boy to Grandads, just make sure it also has some sort of sport featured too - footie, rugby, fishing, weightlifting, golf, athletics....the whole sporting arena is yours to choose from.

Here is my card...

I was stumped for a little while but then found this sweet digi image from A Day for Daisies called 'Just Fishing' and thought it was perfect for this challenge.  Plus its a suitable birthday card to give to one of my boys so it will go into my card box.

I coloured the image with Promarkers before inking the edges with a little antique linen Distress Ink.  I glued down a piece of ivory button twine as the fishing rod (love this!) and stamped the sentiment from PTI set.  The papers are from MME and I distressed the teal coloured paper using my scissors.

Supplies used:
Cardstock - MME from The Ribbon Reel
Image - Just Fishing from A Day for Daisies
Sentiment - Happy Birthday from PTI Set
Ribbon - Ivory Button Twine from The Ribbon Reel
Other - Promarkers and Nestie

DYSU #69 CASE THE DT

We have a new challenge up over at Do You Stack Up? and this week we want you to CASE the DT.  All you need to do is mention which DT member you are caseing.

I made two cards this week....

One of our prize sponsors this week is A Day For Daisies.  This company is new to me and boy am I glad I decided to take a peek at their shop.  I just love their images, they are so lovely to colour.  I've just bought about 10 images, lol - well it was my birthday so thought I'd treat myself!!

This sweet image is 'Over the Rainbow' and perfect to welcome a new little baby.  I coloured the image with Promarkers and added some glamour dust to its wings.  The papers are from Fancy Pants which I just punched a decorative edge with my MS punch.  The sentiment is from WMS Compact Sentiments stamped with pumpkin spice versacolour ink.  After colouring the rainbow in, I remembered I had this fabulous rainbow ribbon from The Ribbon Reel which matched perfectly.

My second card also uses another image that I recently purchased from A Day for Daisies.....

I used this beautiful 'Pansy Fairy' image and had so much fun colouring with my limited number of Promarker pens!  I don't usually do purple colour cards but just love how this all turned out.

Here are this weeks sponsors....

Little Darlings - $10 Gift Certificate

A Day for Daisies - $16 gift certificate

The Paper Shelter - $20 Gift Certificate

I can't wait to see what cards you all CASE.  Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT's cards.

April Crafty Templates - Butterfly Negative

I'm back with another Crafty Templates DT card using the Butterfly Negative from this months April templates.

This card just fell together so easily.  I decided to use the Butterfly Negative and paper pieced the wings in this beautiful hexagon pattern paper and the body was paper pieced using mini pink chevron papers.  I topped the butterfly with a small Paper Blossom and added a little daisy, which I had sat on my desk.  The papers are all from the Day Dreamy Card Kit.

I added a layer of ribbons, including a length of voile, ivory twill (from my own stash) and a strip of sequin trim.  I die cut a label and used one of the stickers from the Crate Paper Pretty Party Phase Sticker sheet.  I even re-used the red spotty washi tape the decorative pins are wrapped in from the kit!

If you like the idea of receiving monthly templates delivered direct to your email, check out how to sign up to the Crafty Templates Club here.

Supplies used:
Butterfly - CT April Templates
Card Materials - CT Day Dreamy Card Kit

April Crafty Templates - Skinny Cupcakes

I couldn't wait to get designing with the Crafty Templates new April templates and was spoilt for choice this month.  We also got to design with the Day Dreamy Cardmaking Kit.

I layered up the papers, adding a roughly cut circle from voile before placing a doily die cut over the top.  I also cut a strip of the voile and tied it into a bow, fraying the edges, adding a Kesi Art Paper Bloom and secured it with a white flower pin.  The birthday girl sentiment is a sticker from Crate Paper.

As soon as I saw these fab cupcakes I knew I had to use them.  I printed the image out twice, first paper piecing the cupcake case onto some pale pink and white chevron paper and then colouring the pink icing and cherry with Promarkers.  So cute!

inspired by the COLOURS in the photo!

Here is my card....

(will take a new picture in natural daylight tomorrow!)

My recycled items were book print from an old book I'd put to one side to use the cover for a project and some corrugated card from a no longer needed box.  I also recycled the little poster behind the bird.  It was printed onto canvas along with a book cover but it didn't print correctly so I never used it.  I kept meaning to throw it away but glad I didn't now.

DCM 'Hat Boutique'

It's Zuzana's turn to set the dare over at Daring Cardmakers this week and wants us to use 'Hats' on our cards.  Any type of hat, whether its straw, cowboy, top, vintage, wedding, winter, baseball cap....its up to you!

So here's my take on the dare....

I was stumped for a while on what I could use for a 'hat' and then remembered this fabulous cowboy stamp set from WMS that I haven't had a chance to ink up yet.  The cowboy has a hat so hopefully that counts!

I loved how this turned out.  I was inspired by Belinda's sample card in the WMS shop for the inked cowboys.  I used distressed the papers to give an aged look to match the image before adding some ivory button twine.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT cards.

WMS #92 Birthday Wishes

I've missed not joining in with the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge lately and managed to squeeze this card in before going to sleep last night.  Here is my take on the current sketch.....

I layered up some of my favourite MME papers to create this card.  I diecut a circle and stamped with the heart circle from L'il Buddies stamp set, before adding a few different sized tea roses and pink crochet heart.

For my bunting I added some MME Chipboard pieces tied with a little button twine.  I just love the trinkets that Prima stock and this little bird trinket is tied with a simple seam binding bow.

This is the fab sketch designed by Karin at WMS this week.  I already have another card planned in my head based on this sketch, just need to find the time to put it together!

Challenges:

Supplies:
Cardstock - MME
Stamps - WMS L'il Buddies and Fancy Phrases
Ribbon - Rose Petal Seam Binding and Button Twine from The Ribbon Reel
Flowers - 40mm Pink Tea Rose, 25mm Blush rose, 25mm Pink Tea Rose from The Ribbon Reel
Other - MME Chipboard Bunting, PTI dies, Felt, MME brad, Pink Crochet Heart, Prima Trinket from The Ribbon Reel

Start Everyday with a Smile

Such a great sentiment...start everyday with a smile!  Good enough that I decided not to add any other wording and use the paper as it is.

I sprayed pink glimmer mist on to two small white roses and added a small white daisy around the sentiment.  A length of 15mm pink satin ribbon separates the papers tied into a bow, with a sweet Girl Paperie rose button tied with button twine.  I added a pinked white felt circle underneath to add a little interest.

Challenges:
Lily Pad - March Flower Challenge
Wags 'n Whiskers Stamps #76 - Say It With Flowers

Supplies used:
Cardstock - MME Dolled Up Papers
Ribbon - 15mm Pink Satin ribbon from The Ribbon Reel

Sweet Birthday Wishes

With Spring here, I decided that I wanted to create a bright and sunny card.  I picked up my MME Howdy Doody pad and saw the beautiful flower paper and knew this would be perfect.

I die cut a circle from this pretty little mini doily paper and stamped it with a WMS compact sentiment.  I layered on top of a pinked edge circle cut from light pink felt.  I only have quite small circle dies so added a paper doily to create a bigger background.  I finished with a pale yellow satin bow and tied a peach / coral button with button twine.

Challenges:
Simon Says Stamp Challenge - Favourite Tool (Big Shot & Nesties)
Whimsy Stamps Challenge - #33 Use Ribbon
Flourishes - #163 Birthday
ColourQ #131
Stamptacular Sunday #157 Pastels

Supplies used:
Cardstock - MME Howdy Doody Papers from The Ribbon Reel

Ribbon - 15mm Pale Yellow Satin ribbon, Ivory Button Twine from The Ribbon Reel
Stamp - WMS Compact Sentiment
Other - Felt, Paper Doily, Nesties

Happy Days

I've not been feeling very inspired these last few weeks and struggled to produce my DT cards.  All I can say is that my DT buddies are just the best and I was able to take a couple of weeks out.  Instead I have been viewing blogs and checking out Pinterest in the hope to feel inspired.  I picked up my MME papers and put this little card together.

I used MME Fiddlesticks papers and a sweet MME journalling card.  I cut a butterfly from some musical note paper using a PTI die and used a mini wooden peg at the centre, which I coloured with my Pastel Pink Promarker.

The circles were cut using PTI dies, from white card stock and white felt.  I layered a white Prima flower, 40mm pink tea rose and a 25mm ivory rose.  I finished with a little bridal white satin bow and topped it with an MME pink pearl brad.
