Crafty Templates for May

Each month I am lucky enough to create with the Crafty Templates design kits.  It makes me think outside the box and be creative.  There is no set way to use the templates and they can be re-used again and again, creating something different each time.

Here are two of my cards using the May templates.

My first card uses the Moustache Template and I chose the largest one for this card.

I went for a traditional black moustache cut using the template.  This is perfect for those difficult masculine cards and with Fathers Day coming up in June knew this would be perfect!  I layered some Studio Calico papers and added a sentiment printed using a circus font and finished with some licorice black bakers twine.

My second card uses the Sunshine Tag Template.

I loved putting this card together.  Although it is a tag template, it would look fab stuck to the front of a card too.  I decided to just make a tag, as I rarely make these but love how they turn out.

I used a medium tag and glued a smaller kraft tag inside.  I chose a small cloud and sun to create this card, adding some doodling around the edges to help it stand out.  The papers are from Studio Calico and the sentiment is from one of the papers.  I finished with a large green button and some button twine.

If you'd like to find out more and subscribe to the monthly templates, you can find details here.  You would receive 10 pdf templates direct to your mailbox each month.

TRR Challenge #29 Die Cuts

Welcome friends to another fun fortnightly challenge at The Ribbon Reel!
Helen is our lovely host this week and she has chosen this fab inspiration photo.....

...and ask that you create a card /project using the colour from the inspiration photo
(CORAL, BRIGHT/CHARTREUSE GREEN & BLUE)
plus use a DIE CUT/PUNCH plus RIBBON & FLOWERS!

Here is my card...

This was such a fun challenge and one I found it much easier than I thought I would to use this colour combo.  I started by creating my card from coral bazzill cardstock, layered with Basic Grey kraft paper, followed by this beautiful green patten paper from Cosmo Cricket Tea for Two paper set.

The central die cut shape is from the Tea for Two Element Deck from Cosmo Cricket which matches the paper perfectly.  The circular and label die cut are from Fancy Pants.  I layered the die cuts over a paper doily, stamping a 'feel better soon' sentiment from WMS's Afternoon Tea set, one of my many favourite WMS sets.  At the last minute I stuck a coral button from my stash to the sentiment.

To finish the card, I added a beautiful cornflower blue gardenia blossom, 3 small blue roses and not forgetting...the watermelon crochet lace (although this looks quite like coral) and a strip of celery loop trim.

Challenges:

Supplies:
Cardstock - Bazzill, Basic Grey Kraft paper, Cosmo Cricket Tea for Two paper from The Ribbon Reel
Ribbons - Watermelon Crochet Lace and Celery Loop trim from The Ribbon Reel
Flowers - Cornflower Blue Gardenia from The Ribbon Reel, small blue roses from stash
Die Cuts - Cosmo Cricket Tea for Two Element Deck from The Ribbon Reel, Fancy Pants
Other - Paper Doily from The Ribbon Reel, coral button from stash

Hello everyone!  Hope you're all having a fab week.  We're at long last enjoying our first week of beautiful sunshine - it's about time too!  I'm sitting here enjoying a nice cup of tea and can hear the birds chirping - perfect that our challenge this week at Do You Stack Up? is 'BIRDS'.

Here is my card, albeit a CAS one this week...

How cute are these little birds?  I used a digi from Meljen's Designs called 'Tweet Heart Birds' and printed it out directly on to some card before folding on my Scor-Pal.

I coloured the image with Promarkers, added some pink bakers twine and a little
pink button.

I think this is the quickest card I have ever made but it was so much fun, and I can't believe how much white is showing!

DYSU #72 Landscapes

Today we have a new challenge up over at Do You Stack Up, and we want to see Landscapes.

Here is my card...

This challenge definitely got me thinking....then I found this sweet MME journalling tag.  My cloud was created from a die cut sheep from Fancy Pants.  I had to chop off it's head and legs but I think I can get away with it being a cloud!  I kept the card quite simple and added a sentiment from WMS and small off white hydrangea daisy.

We have some fabulous sponsors this week and some great prizes......

TRR Challenge #28

Welcome friends to another fun fortnightly challenge over at The Ribbon Reel!
Lenet is our lovely host this week and she has chosen this fab inspiration photo.....

...and ask that you create a card /project using DRY EMBOSSING plus
IVORY/WHITE, LILAC, PINK
and SOFT GREEN/TURQUOISE plus RIBBON!

Here is my card....

At first I panicked when Lenet set this challenge, as I suddenly realised that I am slightly lacking in embossing folders of any description - eek!  Then I thankfully came across this little Cuttlebug embossing folder, yeah.  Luckily the colours for this fortnights challenge also fit into a new baby girl theme.  I layered up soft green and pink papers, adding a little embossed 'tag' to the centre.  The little bird is from an old Fancy Pants kit but worked well with the theme.  I added a double bow from iced lime seam binding, and finished with a little cluster of lilac roses and a sweet cherry blossom.  Oh and Prima stick pin from my stash too.  Just need someone to have a baby girl now....

Supplies used:
Flowers - 25mm Roses & Cherry Blossom from The Ribbon Reel
Other - Mini Peg from The Ribbon Reel, Prima Stick Pin, Fancy Pants Bird diecut, Cuttlebug embossing folder

DCM 'Fussy Cutting'

This week is Jo's turn to set the dare over at Daring Cardmakers, and Jo would like you to use patterned paper in a slightly different way..

'Fussy Cutting'

Instead of using your paper 'straight', this week it's all about using the designs on the paper as your inspiration and cutting bits from them to build up a background and / or to make an embellishment.

Here's my card....

For my fussy cutting, I used the hexagonal paper from MME and cut out a section to build up my background over the top of the dotty paper.   I added a 'so happy for you' sentiment from WMS.  The butterfly was lying around in my stash and is a die and stamp from PTI.  I added a few buttons and some bakers twine.

Supplies used:
Cardstock - MME Be Amazing Paper
Stamp - Compact Sentiments from WMS
Buttons - MME Be Amazing Button card from The Ribbon Reel
Twine - Yellow Bakers Twine from The Ribbon Reel

DYSU #70 Circles

It's Thursday and time for another fun challenge over at Do You Stack Up?  And this week we want to see circles!

Here is my card....

We have been sponsored by some fab companies this week, and I had the chance to work with Crafty Sentiments 'Spring Sentiments'.  They are all circular so work easily with your circle punches, although I used a doily die for mine.

I coloured this beautiful image from A Day for Daisies with my promrarkers, I just love the soft neutral colours on this.  I searched my papers for some circles and came across this paper from MME.  I kept the card fairly simple and just added a silky crush ribbon and tied in a bow.

Our sponsors this week are:
Crafty Sentiments - Winner's Choice of 4 Images

Folded Paper - Winner's Choice of 3 Digital Stamps

Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT's fab creations this week.
