It's Rein's turn to dare us over at Daring Cardmakers this week and she has chosen.....

Focus on Flowers

let's see some flowers on your card - we often use flowers on our cards but often as an added embellishment to the main act so this week, we want to see them as the main feature of your creations and let them really show off their beauty.

Here is my card...

Crafty Templates August #2

I've been playing with this month's new templates from Crafty Templates and created a birthday card
.
Here is my second card.... There are several pretty dresses to use in this months kit which definitely has a girly theme going on. I went with the Fifties Dress template.

I printed the template on to the pink spot paper and cut with a craft knife. I tried using pearls, buttons and flowers on the waistband of the dress but ended up going with a strip of blue velvet ribbon.

I just love how this card turned out, so cute!

Crafty Templates August #1

I've been playing with this month's new templates from Crafty Templates and created a birthday card.

I used the Birthday Checklist template. I had lots of ideas for this and went with a simple birthday card design.

As I wanted a simple card, I printed the template out on white cardstock and added the ticks in the boxes with a black marker pen. I think this template would look really good printed on to lined notepaper too!

TRR Challenge #35 Baby Bunting

Welcome friends to another fun fortnightly challenge at The Ribbon Reel!  It's Lenet's turn to host this week and she has chosen this fabulous inspiration photo .....

and ask that you create a card / project using the COLOURS in the photo plus a BANNER / BUNTING!

Here's my mini paper bag album....

I'm super late posting my project this fortnight, I have no idea where the last week has gone! Oh yes I remember, my sweet boys have kept me very busy whilst on their summer holidays from school. I've loved having them at home with me and we've all enjoyed a few lazy mornings where we didn't need to put the alarm on to wake up, rushing to get ready and out the door for school. My creativity has been spent on them these last few weeks so it will be nice when I get get my paper, stamps and ribbon out again!!

I love making mini albums and used to make them all the time but since setting up The Ribbon Reel, I have less time to put these together and instead concentrate on creating cards, which are easier to fit in to my day to life. Lots of white space for baby photos and tags for journalling those early memories.

Again more white space for photos, although you could also attach keepsakes or journal here too. The round felt tag is removable and held on the page with a small bulldog clip.

 Another sweet felt circle tag.

Large white space for photos which can slide behind the lace and a cute little frog tag.

Here is my little chipboard bunting. I was originally going to put this on the cover but couldn't get it to fit properly so opted for an inner page instead.

These are the removable tags for journalling that are within the album.

Supplies used:
Cardstock - MME
Sentiment Tag - MME
Ribbons - Tiny Pom Pom Trim, Ivory Button Twine, Organza Spot from The Ribbon Reel
Chipboard - Fancy Pants
Rub ons - Melissa Frances
Other - Buttons, Bulldog Clips, Paper Bag Album from stash

DCM 'Film 2012'

It's Friday at last! Not only does that mean that it's nearly the weekend but that we have a new dare at Daring Cardmakers today.

It's Jo's turn to set the dare this week and she has chosen...

'Film Quotes'

We'd like you to use a line/quotation from the Big Screen as your inspiration and see where that leads your cardmaking.

Here is my card....

There are so many fabulous film quotes that I found it hard to choose a suitable one that would work well on a card.  I ended up with two quotes and opted for the line 'We'll always have Paris' from Casablanca.  I had the perfect stamps in mind from WMS which I hadn't had time to ink up yet.  I used the Eiffel Tower image and Paris sentiment as the base of the card.  The papers are from MME and I distressed all the edges with Antique Linen distress ink.  I added a seam binding bow in Oatmeal.  It's supposed to be a lot more crinkly but I didn't have time to spray with water and let it dry!

I finished the sentiment with alphabet stamps from PTI.  I hand cut the Paris tag / flourish and popped it up with some foam dots.  The white rose finishes it off perfectly.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the Design Team's creative film quote cards.

Supplies used:-
Cardstock - MME Dolled Up from The Ribbon Reel
Stamps -  WMS Paris Nouveau and PTI Simple Alpahbet
Ribbon - Oatmeal Seam Binding from The Ribbon Reel
Other - Snow White Self Adhesive Pearls, Prima Rose and Antique Linen Distress Ink from Stash

TRR Challenge #34 - Retro

Welcome friends to another fun fortnightly challenge at The Ribbon Reel!  It's Zuzana's turn to host this week and she has chosen this fabulous inspiration photo .....

and ask that you create a card / project using the COLOURS in the photo plus a FLOWER and RIBBON / TWINE!

Here is my card....

I found this gorgeous MME Out Of The Blue paper which had just the right colours for this challenge.

I paper pieced a couple of the clouds and the green hot air balloon and popped a mini foam dot behind them to give them a 3D effect.  Not the best hand cutting but not too bad!

I didn't feel like I should add to much to this card so kept it simple with a little ivory button twine, MME sentiment sticker and a small dahlia resin flower.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the design team's cards.

Challenges:

Supplies used:
Cardstock - MME Out Of The Blue from The Ribbon Reel
Ribbon - Ivory Button Twine from The Ribbon Reel
Flower - Orange Dahlia Resin Flower from The Ribbon Reel

DCM - A Mediterranean Corner

It's August already and the holiday season is in full swing, so if you notice a few gaps over the next few weeks at Daring Carmakers - that's why! As this is the first Friday of the month it's time for August's Colour Combination Challenge.

Once again we have a photo which we hope will inspire you to join in and get creative with us this week.

features whitewashed walls, fresh green and hot pink,
a dash of powder blue and a smidgeon of purple

 Here is my card....

I had a dig through my stash to find something purple, it's not a colour I use very much and found the pale lilac spotty paper from MME.  I used my spellbinders die to add a decorative edge and used more MME Fiddlesticks paper for the base of my card.  I've had these chipboard hearts for a while and used the negative, as it is already white I decided to leave it as it was.

I added some white shabby tea roses and a small pink hydrangea daisy to the edge of my chipboard frame.

My much loved butterflies are cut from a couple of PTI dies both using MME Fiddlesticks papers and another hydrangea daisy at the centre.  I added a little ivory button twine and a sweet sticker sentiment from MME. Don't forget to check out the rest of the Design Team's creations.
